Pamela Carolina Cavero Zapata (Pamela Cavero / Pamela C. Cavero Z.) is a Peruvian composer, orchestrator and copyist currently based in Lima, Perú.

 

After graduating with a Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition for the Screen at Columbia College Chicago (2024), Pamela worked as a copyist for composer Blair Borland on the custom arrangements for Ryan Trahan's Penny Series (YouTube). She later moved to Los Ángeles and joined the team of Joy Music House —founded by Catherine Joy— where she has worked as a copyist on projects such as the NFL Thanksgiving Day Theme (Netflix), Road to Everywhere, The Secret Lives of Animals (Apple TV) and The White House Effect.

Her passion for collaborating on interdisciplinary projects has given her the opportunity to write music for a variety of artistic expressions such as poetry and collage with Lesley Costello and Lebaxi, contemporary dance with Ariana Cáceres, opera with Peruvian librettist Maritza Núñez.

Interested in writing music for Peruvian Regional Cinema, Pamela has also collaborated with different women directors from Piura, such as Shirley Andrade, Luz Zavala and Valeria Velásquez with whom has received multiple awards for the Documentary Cuando tenía diez años (2022).

 

She is also co-founder of RETAMA —the first collective of women composers of contemporary music in Perú— where she has participated in different projects such as Figuras (2020), Trazos Sonoros (2020), Imaginario Fonético (2021), Concierto de Compositoras Peruanas - Aniversario RETAMA (2021) and Fotonías (2023).
